BlazerJobs is searching for a dedicated and professional Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide interpretation and communication support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The interpreter will facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers in a academic setting.
Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) as needed.
Interpret signed communication into spoken English for staff and students.
Support students' full participation in classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities.
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other service providers to ensure access to the general education curriculum.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Code of Professional Conduct.
Provide support during IEP meetings, assemblies, and school events as needed.
Required:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
Experience working in K–12 educational/school settings.
Familiarity with IEP process and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
