Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Palatine, Illinois

Two contract positions are open for sign language interpreters to support school communities near Palatine, IL. These roles offer the chance to make a meaningful impact on a daily basis, collaborating with educators and students to facilitate effective communication and inclusion.

Available Opportunities:

1. John Powers Center (Vernon Hills, IL)

   • Monday to Friday, 9:00am 3:00pm
   • Immediate start through May 28, 2027

2. Grayslake North High School (Grayslake, IL)

   • Monday to Friday, 8:00am 12:00pm
   • Immediate start through May 20, 2027

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting within educational settings
• One of the following credentials:
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval
  • EIPA score of 3.03.4 accepted with ISBE Interim Approval
  • BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials accepted with ISBE Approval
• Understanding of deaf and hard-of-hearing student needs
• Commitment to working onsite

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities between students, staff, and peers
• Adapt communication style to accommodate diverse student needs across grades
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
• Support student participation in all aspects of the school day
