Empower students and help foster communication by lending your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational environment near Round Lake, IL. Two engaging contract positions are available, each supporting students access to learning through American Sign Language in a welcoming school community.

Position Details: First Position:

  • MondayFriday, 9:00am3:00pm
  • Assignment through May 28, 2027
  • Located at a dedicated special education center in Vernon Hills

Second Position:

  • MondayFriday, 8:00am12:00pm
  • Assignment through May 20, 2027
  • Situated at a high school setting in Grayslake

Qualifications & Credentials:

  • Proficiency in educational sign language interpreting, with experience supporting K-12 students
  • Required certification: EIPA score of 3.5+ with ISBE Approval, or EIPA 3.03.4 with ISBE Interim Approval
  • Other accepted credentials: BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC (all require ISBE Approval)
  • Ability to work on-site and collaborate closely with students, staff, and families
  • Adaptable, empathetic, and professional communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpreting services for students and staff during instructional and school-related activities
  • Facilitate equitable access to classroom content and communications
  • Support a positive, inclusive learning environment
  • Collaborate with educational teams and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed
  • Ensure confidentiality and maintain professional standards
