About the Role

As a school-based Sign Language Interpreter in Seattle, WA, you will:

• Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing

• Interpret classroom instruction, student-teacher interactions, and school events

• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families

• Support student access to the curriculum and promote full participation

• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all settings

• Adjust interpretation based on student language needs and IEPs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s preferred)

• Must hold national certification (e.g., EIPA 3.5+, RID, or NIC)

• Active or pending Washington state credentials for educational interpreting

• School-based experience strongly preferred

• Strong fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)

• Ideal for interpreters traveling from Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, or nearby states
