As a Virtual School-Based Sign Language Interpreter, you will facilitate communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff in educational settings via virtual platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and professional sign language interpretation during virtual classroom sessions, IEP meetings, and other school activities
- Collaborate with educators, students, and families to ensure effective communication access
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethics
- Participate in virtual IEP and team meetings as needed
- Keep detailed logs and documentation as required by the school district
Qualifications
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID Certification, NIC, or state-specific certification)
- Experience interpreting in K–12 educational settings preferred
- Knowledge of educational terminology and interpreting ethics
- Reliable high-speed internet, webcam, and secure workspace for virtual sessions
