Sign Language Interpreter in Troutman, NC

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity working as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting elementary students for the 2026-2027 school year. Your skills will make a difference every day as you create accessible learning experiences for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This onsite position follows a school-day schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 2:30pm, totaling 35 hours per week. Youll work closely with the school team to ensure seamless communication and support for your assigned student at Troutman Elementary.

Qualifications:

• Valid licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required; those with RID certification may also be eligible regardless of EIPA score
• Experience working in educational settings, especially with elementary caseloads, preferred
• Ability to arrive prior to student arrival and be present throughout the school day
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to maintaining professional standards and confidentiality

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, interactions, and school activities for the assigned student
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support an inclusive environment
• Accurately translate spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and voice interpret for the student
• Prepare for each school day and assist with student arrival
• Maintain records and documentation as required
• Participate in school meetings related to the students educational plan
