Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Waverly, Nebraska

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity providing essential support as a Sign Language Interpreter within an elementary school setting. This full-time, onsite position begins as soon as possible and runs through May 20, 2027. Youll play a vital role in facilitating communication for students, educators, and school staff in a welcoming and collaborative learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Current EIPA score of 3.0 or higher (required)
• Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in schools or with children
• Strong understanding of deaf culture and the needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret in dynamic classroom environments
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Professionalism and adaptability in a fast-paced school setting
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school policies

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for elementary students and staff
• Assist students during classroom instruction, school activities, and meetings
• Collaborate with teachers, administration, and special education staff to ensure student access to curriculum and school communications
• Support a positive, inclusive educational experience for all students
• Uphold district guidelines and ethical interpreting standards
