Requirements

Applicants must meet all local and state requirements to be considered:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field (required)

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement

  • Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program

  • Knowledge of and compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and Section 504 regulations

  • Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance as required by WA state

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities

  • Adapt general education lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure student success

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

  • Provide specialized instruction in individual and group settings

  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, adjusting strategies as needed

  • Stay current with best practices, instructional strategies, and state requirements for special education
