Applicants must meet all local and state requirements to be considered:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field (required)
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement
Completion of a state-approved teacher preparation program
Knowledge of and compliance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and Section 504 regulations
Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferred
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance as required by WA state
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities
Adapt general education lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities
Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure student success
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student progress
Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Provide specialized instruction in individual and group settings
Monitor and evaluate student performance, adjusting strategies as needed
Stay current with best practices, instructional strategies, and state requirements for special education
