Special Education Teacher - Bridgeport, CT

We currently have two full-time contract roles for the 20262027 school year at a dynamic middle school near Bridgeport, Connecticut. These positions offer a chance to work collaboratively in a supportive educational environment focused on student growth and success.

Qualifications:

• Valid Connecticut Special Education certification, or eligibility for certification.
• Experience or strong interest in working with middle school students.
• For one role: background in reading intervention programs such as SPIRE, WILSON, or Orton-Gillingham preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and a commitment to fostering academic achievement.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities for working with students, parents, and fellow educators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.
• For English Language Arts/Reading/Math role: deliver specialized instruction in 6th grade ELA and Math, with a focus on targeted reading and math strategies.
• For Academic Assistance role: support students in grades 68 by guiding executive functioning skills and providing resource support across core subjects.
• Work closely with teaching colleagues to monitor student progress and adjust instructional approaches.
• Maintain thorough documentation of student performance, IEP compliance, and communications.
