Make a meaningful impact on students lives by supporting their academic and behavioral growth in a high school setting dedicated to individualized education. This contract opportunity begins as soon as possible and continues through mid-June 2027, offering a structured environment for two dedicated Special Education Teachers. Youll work full-time, 35 hours per week, in a specialized classroom setting primarily serving students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) or significant behavioral challenges. Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Active Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education license for Secondary grade levels.
  • Current knowledge of best practices in teaching students with EBD or severe behavioral challenges.
  • Either certified in, or able and willing to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire (per Right to Read Act).
  • Experience managing self-contained or sub-separate high school classrooms preferred.
  • Effective classroom management and de-escalation skills, with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and behavioral support for high school students in a self-contained setting.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs that align with student needs and district standards.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies for academic and behavioral interventions.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with related service providers and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and structured classroom environment.
