Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education teaching license for the appropriate grade band (Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary)
• Commitment to compliance with the Right to Read Act (certification in, or willingness to complete, Rhode Island Structured Literacy proficiency within one year of hire)
• Experience working in an elementary school setting is highly valued
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities

• Teach elementary students with diverse learning needs in a resource/inclusion or self-contained classroom (assignment based on district needs)
• Design and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and the general curriculum
• Collaborate with parents, specialists, and school teams to monitor student progress
• Maintain accurate records and adapt instruction based on student data
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Encourage student independence and social-emotional growth
