Special Education Teacher | Darlington, South Carolina

This contract position offers the chance to inspire young learners as a Special Education teacher in two elementary-level, self-contained classrooms, focused on K-2 Autism Support and PreK Special Education. With dedicated para support in both rooms, youll have the resources to create an engaging, tailored learning environment for every child.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Active or pending Special Education teaching license; open to emergency certifications, candidates in the Teachers of America and ITeach programs
• Experience or enthusiasm for working with elementary-aged students, especially in Autism support or early childhood special education
• Ability to foster an inclusive, structured environment and collaborate closely with paraprofessionals
• Adaptability to school processes and eagerness to work onsite full time
• Positive, patient, and proactive communication style with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student based on their unique needs
• Deliver instruction in a self-contained classroom setting, ensuring academic and social growth
• Utilize support staff and available resources to maximize student engagement and success
• Communicate regularly with families and staff to share progress and collaborate on strategies
• Maintain accurate records and comply with all required documentation and special education policies
