Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid CDE Special Education (SPED) License with Generalist Endorsement (5-21) is mandatory; must provide proof of application if pending.
  • License must clearly state: Professional Teacher License with the required endorsement.
  • Not open to substitutes, travelers, or holders of temporary/interim licenses unless the appropriate SPED license has been applied for.
  • Background in Specially Designed Instruction, alternative standards, and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the IEP process and strong collaborative skills with IEP team members.
  • Ability to articulate teaching philosophy, instructional practices, and case management experiences during the interview process.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to ensure students with disabilities achieve academic and social success.
  • Create and implement IEPs tailored to individual student needs, monitoring and documenting progress consistently.
  • Foster a supportive, structured classroom environment in alignment with high school standards.
  • Collaborate closely with general and special education colleagues, related service providers, and families.
  • Stay current with best practices in special education and apply innovative teaching methods as appropriate.
