Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing qualified and dedicated Special Education Teachers for a full-time position serving elementary school students in the Derby, Kansas area. This role involves working with approximately 10 students ranging from Kindergarten through 5th grade in a supportive and collaborative school environment.

Position Overview:

The Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction and support tailored to each student’s unique educational needs. This is a resource-based position focused on creating inclusive learning strategies and ensuring compliance with all state and federal education laws.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

• Develop and implement effective, individualized education plans (IEPs)

• Deliver differentiated instruction in small group and one-on-one settings

• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly

• Maintain accurate records and documentation per district and legal guidelines

• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families

• Facilitate IEP meetings and actively participate in parent-teacher conferences

• Support students' social, emotional, and academic development

Qualifications and Requirements:

Applicants must meet all local and state certification requirements for Special Education in Kansas, including:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field

• Valid Kansas teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education (Low Incidence, High Incidence, or Adaptive)

• Completion of a Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) background check and fingerprinting

• Strong familiarity with IEP development and implementation

• Previous experience with elementary school-aged children preferred
