Special Education Teacher in Des Plaines, IL

Make a difference in the lives of elementary students by supporting their educational growth and social-emotional development in a resource-based special education setting. This full-time contract opportunity provides a consistent Monday-Friday schedule, working 35 hours per week, within a supportive elementary environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
• If you hold an out-of-state special education certification, please refer to the ISBE Educator Licensure Information System (ELIS) for guidance on securing your PEL
• Experience delivering individualized instruction to students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, preferably within K-4 settings
• Strong collaboration skills to effectively partner with general education teachers, support staff, and families
• Commitment to fostering inclusive, positive classroom environments and supporting student growth academically and socially/emotionally

Role Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of 8-10 K-4 students, delivering both pull-out direct instruction and push-in support within general education classrooms
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitoring student progress and adjusting interventions as needed
• Provide academic and social/emotional support in accordance with IEPs and collaborate closely with teachers and related service providers
• Maintain open communication with families to ensure continuity of support and foster positive relationships
• Uphold all district and state guidelines for documentation and compliance
