Contract Licensed Special Education Teacher - Summer ESY - Quakertown, PA

Location: Strayer Middle School, 1200 Ronald Reagan Dr., Quakertown, PA 18951

Start/End Date:

  • Orientation/Prep: June 24 - June 26
  • Extended School Year (ESY): June 30 - July 31

Hours per Week: Monday - Thursday, 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate licensed Special Education Teacher to work in an Autism Support classroom at Strayer Middle School. Job Duties of a Special Education Teacher:

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in the educational and social-emotional development of your students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on students' unique needs and goals.
  • Providing direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills.
  • Creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles.
  • Utilizing a variety of teaching methods and resources to engage students and promote learning.
  • Collaborating effectively with paraprofessionals, related service providers (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists), and parents.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Implementing positive behavior support strategies to create a safe and productive classroom.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and attending IEP meetings.

Caseload: More details about the specific caseload will be discussed during the interview process. This position will be supporting students within an Autism Support classroom.

Required Credentials/Non-Negotiables:

  • In-person ONLY position.
  • Active Special Education Teacher license in Pennsylvania is required.
  • School experience is necessary for this role.

We will also consider candidates who possess an Emergency Permit in Special Education in Pennsylvania AND are currently enrolled in a Special Education program. Additionally, we welcome applications from teachers holding their Pennsylvania Special Education Certification.

Compensation:

We offer the average competitive hourly rate of $35-$50 based on experience for this contract licensed Special Education Teacher position.
