Key Qualifications:

  • Active CDE Special Education License with Generalist Endorsement required (proof of application accepted)
  • License must be a Professional Teacher License, endorsed specifically in Special Education Generalist (5-21)
  • Applicants holding only substitute, temporary, interim, or hybrid/VOCO credentials cannot be considered
  • Strong background in teaching students with a wide range of abilities and alternative standards
  • Thorough familiarity with instructional practices and specially designed instruction
  • Extensive knowledge of the IEP process, collaborating with IEP team members, and implementing individualized education plans
  • Ability to articulate teaching strategies and previous experiences in interview

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction to students identified for special education services
  • Develop, implement, and track progress on IEPs, ensuring compliance with state standards and individualized needs
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support each students growth
  • Use evidence-based instructional practices to enhance engagement and achievement
  • Support students in meeting alternative academic benchmarks when appropriate
  • Maintain professional documentation, progress monitoring, and data collection
