Special Education Teacher - Garland, TX

Step into a rewarding contract position making a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students with unique learning needs in an elementary school setting near Garland, TX. Three positions are available across different specialized classrooms, each designed to nurture student growth and success in a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

Youll be assigned to one of three elementary schools, each offering a distinct caseload: self-contained Total Language Classrooms focusing on small group instruction, or a CORE classroom modifying academic curricula for students with diverse needs. Students benefit from participation in broad school activities such as lunch, art, and PE alongside their peers, promoting both academic and social growth. Each assignment runs full-time at 37.5 hours per week, beginning as soon as credentialing is completed and extending through May 2027.

Key Qualifications:

• Accredited bachelors degree required
• Valid Texas Special Education (EC-12) teaching certificate
• Experience supporting elementary-aged children with life skills, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral needs, or modifying general curriculum is highly valued
• Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff
• Must complete TEA fingerprinting if not previously done for a Texas public school within the past year

Essential Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction in self-contained or resource settings
• Develop and adapt lesson plans to suit students' IEP goals and learning styles
• Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
