Special Education Teacher in Gretna, LA

A new contract opportunity is available for experienced Special Education Teachers who are passionate about impacting student lives through collaboration and instructional support. This full-time role offers a dynamic schedule, working with a variety of schools and educators, and provides an excellent chance to share expertise where its needed most.

In this position, certified Special Education Teachers will be instrumental in supporting non-certified colleagues across multiple campuses. You will play a critical role in special education classrooms, ensuring compliance and quality in IEP development, data collection, and instructional delivery. Expect a diverse caseload encompassing various age groups and educational needs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana DOE certification with a Special Education endorsement (SPED).
• Current, valid teaching certificate; Teaching Assistant or Temporary Authority certifications are not accepted.
• Proven experience with IEP documentation, progress reporting, and instructional support.
• Strong capacity for collaboration and professional development of peers.
• Ability to travel between assigned schools as needed.
• Clear background check, district drug test, and fingerprinting clearance required.

Role Responsibilities:

• Serve as an itinerant Special Education Teacher, rotating through assigned schools to support classroom instruction.
• Mentor and guide non-certified teachers in specialized pedagogical strategies.
• Lead IEP writing and ensure compliance with all district and state standards.
• Facilitate effective data collection and ongoing progress reports for individual students.
• Cultivate positive relationships with school staff and administrators.

This contract begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year, with a workweek of 35 hours (Monday through Friday, following the academic calendar).
