Special Education Teacher in La Place, LA

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive elementary environment. This full-time contract role provides the opportunity to work with a self-contained classroom, fostering student growth and academic success in an engaging community. You'll be part of a dedicated educational team serving students at the elementary level, utilizing your specialized skills and compassion to ensure equitable educational opportunities for every learner.

What you'll bring:

• Valid Louisiana Educator Certificate (SPED certification is preferred; Elementary 1-5 certification will also be considered)
• Experience working with students with exceptional needs, preferably in an elementary setting
• Strong classroom management and differentiation abilities
• Commitment to individualized instruction and collaborative problem-solving
• Passion for fostering student independence and achievement
• Ability to start as soon as possible and commit through May 2027

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction to students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained classroom
• Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with staff and families
• Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to each student's abilities and goals
• Track student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
• Communicate consistently with families, support staff, and specialists
• Create a nurturing, safe, and structured learning environment
• Uphold school policies and maintain positive relationships in the school community
