Position: Contract School Special Education Teacher
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Start Date/End Date: Beginning of the 2025-2026 School Year (Full School Year Contract)
Caseload/Job Details: Focus on the Elementary School age range. Specific caseload details will be provided during the interview process and will be aligned with your expertise and experience.

Job Duties of a School Special Education Teacher:

As a School Special Education Teacher, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Providing direct and indirect instructional support to students in various settings (e.g., general education classroom, resource room, self-contained classroom).
• Collaborating effectively with general education teachers, parents, support staff (e.g., paraprofessionals, therapists, counselors), and administrators to ensure student success.
• Conducting assessments and evaluations to identify students' educational needs and monitor their progress.
• Adapting and modifying curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Implementing positive behavior support strategies and developing behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.
• Maintaining accurate and organized student records and documentation.
• Participating in IEP meetings and other relevant school meetings.
• Staying current on best practices and research in the field of special education.
• Creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Qualifications:

• Active Special Education Teacher License is required.
• Experience working with elementary school-aged students with disabilities is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of the IEP process and special education laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and implement effective teaching strategies.
• A commitment to the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.

Compensation:

We offer the average competitive hourly rate of $30-$40 based on experience for this contract Special Education Teacher position.
