Special Education Teacher Full Time Position

Full-Time Special Education Teacher – Middletown, CT Area

Blazer Jobs is currently conducting interviews for a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to fill a full-time role with a reputable school district in the Middletown, CT area. This position is ideal for a professional who is passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

Required Qualifications:

• Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related education field

• Must possess a valid and active Connecticut Educator Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (Endorsement Codes 165, 265, or 265/066)

• Must have prior experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school-based setting

State and Local Requirements (Connecticut):

• Completion of an approved teacher preparation program specific to Special Education

• Passing scores on the Praxis II Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications (5354) exam, if not waived by prior certification

• Compliance with CT State Department of Education fingerprinting and background check

• Fulfillment of continuing education requirements for certification renewal as outlined by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE)

• Must adhere to district-level compliance and onboarding procedures

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student learning

• Deliver instruction using evidence-based practices tailored to individual learning styles

• Track student progress, assess performance, and document outcomes for reporting purposes

• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school-based team discussions

• Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and other federal/state regulations
