Full-Time Special Education Teacher – Middletown, CT Area
Blazer Jobs is currently conducting interviews for a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to fill a full-time role with a reputable school district in the Middletown, CT area. This position is ideal for a professional who is passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of students with diverse learning needs.
Required Qualifications:
Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related education field
Must possess a valid and active Connecticut Educator Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (Endorsement Codes 165, 265, or 265/066)
Must have prior experience working as a Special Education Teacher in a school-based setting
State and Local Requirements (Connecticut):
Completion of an approved teacher preparation program specific to Special Education
Passing scores on the Praxis II Special Education: Core Knowledge and Applications (5354) exam, if not waived by prior certification
Compliance with CT State Department of Education fingerprinting and background check
Fulfillment of continuing education requirements for certification renewal as outlined by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE)
Must adhere to district-level compliance and onboarding procedures
Job Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student learning
Deliver instruction using evidence-based practices tailored to individual learning styles
Track student progress, assess performance, and document outcomes for reporting purposes
Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school-based team discussions
Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and other federal/state regulations
