We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Bilingual (English-Spanish) Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position in Blue Island, IL, for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Position Details:
- Location: Blue Island, IL
- Dates: August 26, 2025 - June 3, 2026 (tentative)
- Hours: Full-time, 35 hours/week
- Caseload: Self-Contained Classroom, Grades 4-5
- Special Requirements: Must be Bilingual (English-Spanish) and possess Cross-Categorical certification.
Job Duties:
As a Bilingual Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Providing direct instruction and interventions in both English and Spanish, adapting curriculum and materials to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Creating a structured and engaging self-contained classroom environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Conducting assessments, monitoring student progress, and maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborating with general education teachers, therapists, and other school staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to student success.
- Communicating effectively with Spanish-speaking families to build strong home-school partnerships.
- Utilizing a variety of teaching methods and strategies to address diverse learning styles and abilities.
Qualifications:
- Active Professional Educator License (PEL) in Illinois with Cross-Categorical Special Education endorsement.
- Must be fluently bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Previous experience working in a self-contained special education classroom setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation:
For this contract licensed school-based professional position, the average hourly rate is $40-$54 per hour based on experience.
