Special Education Teacher - Part Time Extended School Year Position

Extended School Year Special Education Teacher – North Chicago, IL

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Special Education Teachers for a full-time Extended School Year (ESY) role in partnership with school districts in the North Chicago, Illinois area. This is an excellent opportunity to support students during summer instruction while working with a dedicated team of professionals.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered, applicants must meet all Illinois state and local requirements, including:

• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related education field

• Possess a valid and active Professional Educator License (PEL) issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) with a LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement

• Have prior experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably in a school-based or ESY setting

• Pass all required background checks, fingerprinting, and health screenings as mandated by the school district and state law

• Be legally authorized to work in the United States

Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement individualized instruction for students with a variety of learning disabilities and needs

• Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and district guidelines

• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly

• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure student success

• Maintain timely and accurate documentation

• Provide a structured and supportive learning environment tailored to each student’s needs
