Key Qualifications:

  • Active CI (Cognitive Impairment) certification required
  • Demonstrated experience in special education, especially serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Skilled in crisis management techniques and de-escalation strategies
  • Familiarity with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems preferred
  • Ability to thrive within a multidisciplinary, full-team approach
  • Strong commitment to fostering a positive, supportive learning climate for students facing significant behavioral and communication obstacles

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored for students with cognitive impairments in an ASD-type program
  • Collaborate closely with a diverse team of therapists, aides, and specialists to develop and implement personalized education and behavioral plans
  • Employ evidence-based interventions and instructional strategies, including AAC as necessary, to address complex communication needs
  • Engage proactively with families and caregivers as educational partners
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development focused on best practices for students with cognitive disabilities and mental health challenges
  • Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to ongoing assessment and reporting
