This full-time contract opportunity starts immediately and lasts through June 18, 2027, offering you the chance to support and empower students in a self-contained or sub-separate classroom setting close to Pawtucket, RI.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Current Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) Special Education certification for secondary grade level
  • Strong background working with high school students, particularly those with EBD or severe behavioral challenges
  • Familiarity with self-contained or sub-separate classroom environments
  • Certification in Rhode Island Structured Literacy (Right to Read Act), or willingness to complete proficiency within the first year
  • Ability to develop individualized goals, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and provide a safe, supportive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and behavioral support for students with EBD or similar challenges in a self-contained high school classroom
  • Prepare and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate closely with other special educators, therapists, related service providers, and families
  • Assist with behavior intervention plans and use positive supports to help students succeed
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and comply with all state and federal requirements
