Qualifications & Requirements:

Applicants must meet all Arizona state and local requirements, including:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution

• Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement (e.g., Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Severe/Profound Disabilities, Cross-Categorical, etc.) issued by the Arizona Department of Education

• Current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety

• Familiarity with IDEA regulations and IEP development

• Previous experience in a school-based special education setting preferred

• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

Typical duties of a Special Education Teacher include:

• Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs

• Providing direct instruction and academic support in inclusive and self-contained settings

• Modifying general education curriculum and assessments for students with disabilities

• Monitoring and documenting student progress toward IEP goals

• Collaborating with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families

• Conducting assessments and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings

• Managing classroom behavior and supporting social-emotional development
