What We're Looking For:

  • Valid Washington Special Education license (WA SPED) and Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate (must be verifiable).
  • Minimum 5 years of classroom experience as a special education teacher, specifically working in transition settings with students aged 1822.
  • Prior experience in a school environment, particularly in transition-focused or life-skills programs, is essential.
  • Deep understanding of the unique needs and potential of transition-age students.
  • Ability to work onsite full time (37.5 hours/week) for the full academic year.
  • Strong collaborative skills for teaming with staff, families, and external agencies.
  • Flexibility and patience to navigate credentialing processes; awareness that an additional BIE adjudication step may delay start by approximately one week.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, tailored instruction within an 1822 transition classroom.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), focusing on life, vocational, and social skills.
  • Coordinate with related service providers and community partners to facilitate a smooth transition for students into adulthood.
  • Track student progress and adjust methods as needed.
