Special Education Teacher - Spruce Pine, NC

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-8 students as a Special Education Teacher in a welcoming North Carolina community. This full-time role runs from ASAP through May 28, 2027, providing consistent weekday hours (Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week) and the chance to work closely with a team of engaged professionals.

Youll guide either an elementary structured support classroom with a caseload of 6 students, or contribute to a collaborative middle school co-teaching environment serving 11 students. The position offers dedicated classroom assistance in both settings, with specialized support staff including Teaching Assistants, a Behavior Technician, and, for one student requiring added care, a 1:1 aide.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education certification or eligibility
• Experience working in elementary and/or middle school settings
• Proficiency supporting students with mild behavioral needs and some physical care requirements (toileting, with feeding only required for one student using a feeding tube)
• Ability to foster a nurturing, structured, and inclusive environment
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, support staff, and families
• Strong organizational skills and adaptability to meet varied student needs

Primary Responsibilities:

• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students' academic and developmental needs
• Collaborate with teaching partners and classroom assistants to maximize student success
• Provide targeted instructional and behavioral support in accordance with best practices
