What Youll Do:

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction based on each students IEP, aligned with state standards and goals.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies tailored for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Implement positive behavioral supports, behavior intervention plans, and structured teaching methods.
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, psychologists, behavior specialists, and other related service providers.
  • Supervise and direct paraprofessionals within the classroom to optimize student support.
  • Collect and analyze data on student progress, ensuring all compliance and documentation requirements are met.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that enhances student growth and independence.
  • Foster communication, social interaction, and self-regulation for a diverse group of elementary-aged students.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Current or eligible Virginia Special Education Teaching License required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families.
  • Prior experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably in self-contained classrooms, is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with ABA principles, structured teaching, visual schedules, and alternative communication systems preferred.
  • Crisis prevention/de-escalation training is an asset.
