Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Position Overview:
Public schools in the Tallahassee, FL area are seeking qualified and dedicated Special Education Teachers to support the academic, behavioral, and social development of students with disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering individualized instruction aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective IEPs for students with disabilities
- Provide direct instruction tailored to individual learning needs
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies for diverse learners
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to promote inclusive practices
- Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and parent conferences
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and documentation required by law
- Create a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for all students
- Stay current with professional development related to special education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Florida teaching certification in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and evidence-based instructional practices
