We are seeking enthusiastic and qualified Special Education Teachers to fill multiple vacancies across NSY (presumably Nursery School/Early Intervention), Elementary, Middle, and High School levels. These positions involve working within self-contained classroom settings, providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Job Duties of a School Special Education Teacher:
As a School Special Education Teacher, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Providing direct instruction to students in academic subjects, social skills, and functional life skills within a self-contained classroom setting.
- Adapting and modifying curriculum and instructional materials to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Utilizing a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies and assistive technologies to enhance student learning.
- Conducting ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborating effectively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, counselors), and parents/guardians.
- Managing classroom behavior effectively and implementing positive behavior support strategies.
- Maintaining accurate and organized student records, including IEP documentation, progress reports, and assessment data.
- Participating in IEP meetings and other school-related meetings.
- Supervising and providing guidance to classroom paraprofessionals.
- Staying current on best practices in special education through professional development opportunities.
- Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that fosters student growth and independence.
Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teacher License is required. Candidates must hold a valid special education teaching license in the state of Alabama or be eligible for reciprocity.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Knowledge of various disabilities and effective instructional strategies for diverse learners.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A passion for working with students with special needs and a commitment to their success.
Compensation:
We offer the average competitive hourly rate of $30-$40 based on experience for this contract school special education teacher position.
