Make a meaningful difference for students with hearing needs as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the vibrant Boston area on a part-time, contract basis. You'll collaborate closely with a district TOD, sharing caseloads to ensure all students receive the personalized support they deserve. Your insights and preferences are valuedfrom choosing your preferred age groups or school settings to discussing an appropriate caseloadmaking this a flexible and rewarding role.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in accordance with each student's IEP
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and other professionals to foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching methods and technologies as needed
  • Provide recommendations for adaptive resources and accommodations to enhance accessibility and learning
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute your expertise to educational planning for individual students
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
  • Act as a resource for hearing awareness and inclusion strategies across the district

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Massachusetts Teaching Certificate with a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing endorsement
  • Experience supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in school settings
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to a range of student needs and educational environments
  • Proficiency with assistive technologies and strategies for Deaf/Hard of Hearing education

This part-time assignment features a flexible schedule with 1015 hours per week, starting as soon as possible and running until March 2026, with the possibility of extension through June after review. You'll partner with supportive colleagues and have a direct say in your caseload and work environment.
