We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team. The DHH Teacher will work closely with parents, support staff, and classroom teachers to create an accessible, enriching, and inclusive educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in individual or group settings.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet students' specific needs and goals.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers to ensure DHH students are fully included in the classroom.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies and accommodations, including sign language (ASL), lip-reading, amplification systems, and other accessible technologies.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Certification as a Deaf Education Teacher (or state-specific equivalent).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods for DHH students.
- Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with classroom management and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of auditory-verbal therapy techniques.
