Make an impact supporting young learners as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a contract role serving early childhood students (birth to 5 years old). In this hands-on position, you will play a critical role in shaping communication development and fostering a supportive educational environment for children with hearing differences. This position is available for both full-time and part-time schedules (15-25 hours per week for part-time). All work is conducted onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to meet the unique needs of deaf and hard of hearing students in early childhood settings.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Utilize a variety of communication methods and educational strategies, including visual aids, American Sign Language (ASL), and auditory/oral approaches.
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering guidance on communication supports, auditory devices, and overall inclusion.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education, or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Prior experience with early childhood populations is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of educational strategies for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Proficiency in ASL and/or other communication modalities used in DHH education.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively onsite and adapt to the dynamic needs of young children.
