Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Fredericksburg, Virginia

A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students across a district-wide caseload. This contract position, located near Fredericksburg, VA, begins as soon as possible and runs through May 2027. In this role, you will:

• Serve students ranging from PreK to 12th grade, some needing consultative support and others requiring more intensive service minutes.
• Adapt instructional materials and classroom environments to facilitate maximum independence and access for visually impaired students.
• Work collaboratively with general and special educators, related service providers, and families.
• Provide direct and consultative services, participating in IEP development and implementation.
• Travel between multiple school sites as needed, based on evolving caseload assignments.
• Maintain thorough documentation and communication to support student progress and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) certification for teaching students with visual impairments.
• Ability to begin immediate credentialing, including the VA Department of Social Services background check and TB testing.
• Prior experience in a school setting and/or with a diverse student caseload is preferred.
• Confidence and resourcefulness in serving a rapidly growing population of students needing vision services.
