Washington Elementary School District 6 is seeking a qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide direct and consultative services to K–8 students with visual impairments. This is a full-time itinerant position, requiring travel between school sites within the district. The TVI will deliver specialized instruction, conduct assessments, and support access to the general education curriculum through compensatory skill development and assistive technology.
Teach compensatory skills, including:
Braille literacy
Tactile graphics
Use of assistive technology
Orientation and mobility (in collaboration with O&M specialists)
Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA)
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families
Maintain accurate progress reports and ensure all documentation is in compliance with district and state requirements
Arizona certification in Visual Impairment (required)
Experience with K–8 student populations (preferred)
Proficiency in Braille, adaptive technologies, and assessment tools for students with visual impairments
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to travel between school sites as needed
