Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
Location: Houston, TX

Are you passionate about empowering students with visual impairments to reach their full academic and personal potential? We are seeking a dedicated and certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in the Houston area. This role is focused on providing specialized instruction and ensuring equitable access to education for students with vision challenges.

Position Overview:
As a TVI, you will support students across various educational settings—general and special education classrooms—by adapting curriculum, incorporating assistive technology, and developing personalized strategies for success. You’ll play a key role in fostering student independence and helping them thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments

  • Develop and implement IEPs based on each student’s specific needs

  • Adapt curriculum materials and utilize assistive technologies to enhance accessibility

  • Conduct functional vision assessments and determine appropriate learning media

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to support learning goals

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and ensure compliance with district and state requirements

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired

  • Valid Texas TVI certification

  • Proficiency in Braille and experience with assistive technology

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • Experience working with students across multiple grade levels preferred
