Make a meaningful difference in the lives of visually impaired students by stepping into an influential role as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This is an on-site, full-time contract opportunity near Schaumburg, IL, supporting a diverse group of students ranging from Pre-K through transition ages. Youll work as an itinerant professional, traveling between multiple school sites within the district to provide essential vision-related services and leadership.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Professional Educators License (PEL) with a visual impairments endorsement for Illinois
  • Masters degree in Special Education or a related field
  • At least 5 years of prior school-based experience
  • Comprehensive expertise in the field of visual impairments
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Fingerprinting and background check required prior to start

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct vision-related services to students in a variety of school settings
  • Offer guidance to staff, students, and families on best practices in vision impairment education
  • Lead training, mentoring, and coaching initiatives for both new and returning vision services staff
  • Foster collaborative problem-solving and advocate for relevant resources throughout the school community
  • Support caseload management and documentation for students across Pre-K through transition to adulthood
